Set up Apple Developer for your customer App Store app

Enroll your organization in the Apple Developer Program, get approved, and invite Car Storage Software as an Admin so we can publish your branded customer app under your company name.

What you will accomplish

You will create an Apple Developer Program membership for your organization and invite Car Storage Software as an Admin in App Store Connect. We then publish your branded customer app to the App Store under your company — you own the listing; we handle the technical build and submission.

You do not need to create API keys or paste private key files unless your IT team prefers that path (see the optional section at the end).

When to use this guide

  • Your facility purchased or requested a customer app on the Apple App Store (not just Add to Home Screen).
  • You turned on Customer App Store app under Settings → Integrations ($200/month add-on).
  • Your logo and app name are set in Settings > Branding.

Step 0: Enable the add-on in Integrations

  1. Open Integrations

    Go to Settings → Integrations and open Customer App Store app.

    Expected result: You see the $200/month add-on description and an enable switch.

  2. Turn it on

    Enable the integration. Your Car Storage Software subscription is charged $200/month (prorated when you turn it on mid-cycle).

    Expected result: Settings → App Store appears for team admins, and you can continue with enrollment below.

Before you start

  • Someone at your company can act as Account Holder (owner/officer who can agree to Apple’s contracts).
  • Your business has or can obtain a D-U-N-S Number for an Organization enrollment (Apple’s D-U-N-S lookup).
  • You have a work email and phone Apple can use for verification.
  • You are a team admin in Car Storage Software (only admins confirm setup in Settings → App Store).

Step 1: Enroll in the Apple Developer Program (Organization)

  1. Start enrollment

    Open Apple Developer Program enrollment and sign in with an Apple ID your company controls (prefer a shared admin/ops Apple ID, not a personal employee account that might leave).

    Expected result: Apple asks whether you are enrolling as an Individual or Organization.

  2. Choose Organization

    Select Organization and enter your legal entity name exactly as it appears on business records (should match D-U-N-S).

    Why this matters: The App Store listing shows your company as the seller. Individual accounts show a person’s name.

  3. Complete verification and pay Apple

    Follow Apple’s prompts for business verification. Pay the annual membership (currently $99 USD/year, billed by Apple).

    Expected result: Apple emails you when the account is approved. This often takes 1–2 weeks for new organizations.

Step 2: Accept agreements in App Store Connect

  1. Open App Store Connect

    Go to App Store Connect and sign in with the same developer team.

    Expected result: You land on the App Store Connect home screen (Apps, Users and Access, and so on).

  2. Accept required agreements

    If Apple shows banners or alerts, have the Account Holder accept the latest Apple Developer Program License Agreement and any Paid Applications agreement Apple requests (often required even for free apps).

    Expected result: No blocking agreement warnings on the home screen.

Step 3: Invite Car Storage Software as an Admin

  1. Open Users and Access

    In App Store Connect, click Users and Access.

    Expected result: You see a list of people who can access this developer team.

  2. Add a new user

    Click the + button (or Invite Users). Enter:

    • Email: matt@carstoragesoftware.com (Car Storage Software publishing team)
    • Role: Admin
    • Apps: All apps (or all apps you will create for this program)

    Send the invitation.

    Expected result: The invite shows as Pending until we accept it on our side.

  3. Optional — copy your Team ID

    On the Apple Developer Membership page, find your Team ID (10 characters, letters and numbers). You can paste it into Settings → App Store so we match the right team quickly.

    Expected result: You have Team ID ready (example format: B4WD6CXRZ8).

Step 4: Confirm in Car Storage Software

  1. Open App Store settings

    In the dashboard, go to Settings → App Store.

    Expected result: You see your app status and a link back to this guide.

  2. Mark setup complete

    After enrollment is approved and you sent the Admin invite, click I've enrolled and invited Car Storage Software.

    Optionally enter your Apple Team ID.

    Expected result: Status shows we are waiting to accept your invite and finish publishing. Our team may email you if we need the exact app name or bundle ID confirmed.

What success looks like

  • Apple approved your Organization developer account.
  • matt@carstoragesoftware.com appears in App Store Connect → Users and Access (Pending or Active).
  • You confirmed setup under Settings → App Store.
  • Customers can later download your app from the App Store (we notify you when it is live).

Optional: Connect an API key instead (advanced)

Some IT teams prefer not to invite an external Admin. Team admins can expand Connect an API key instead on Settings → App Store and paste an App Store Connect Team Key (.p8). That path requires creating a key under Users and Access → Integrations yourself. Most facilities use the Admin invite steps above.
