Task list filters and sorting

Filter dashboard quick tasks by due date, creator, or assignee and sort by date or title so each person sees the work that matters now.

A long task list is only useful if you can see your overdue items first.

Why we built it

The dashboard Tasks panel already collected quick tasks from across the facility. Task list filters and sorting adds a Filters & sort control on that panel so each person can narrow by due date (overdue, today, this week, or no date), creator, and assignee, then order the list by created date, due date, or title A–Z. Managers spot unassigned work; technicians focus on what is due today without scrolling every open reminder.

Who it is for

  • Technicians who live on the Tasks widget and need overdue work at the top.
  • Leads checking Unassigned or Assigned to me during morning stand-up.
  • Teams pairing tasks with @mentions when handoffs need a named owner.

What you can do

  • Add a Tasks panel on Dashboard if your layout does not include one yet—see Customize your Overview dashboard.
  • Open the filter icon on the Tasks header and set Due date, Creator, and Assignee filters.
  • Choose Sort by — created newest/oldest, due soonest/latest, or title A–Z.
  • Click Reset to return to the default view; a badge on the filter icon shows when filters are active.
Task detail on dashboard
Filters apply to open tasks on your Tasks panel—complete items separately when you review finished work.

How it fits your day

Quick tasks without an explicit due date appear under No due date—use Advanced in the quick task dialog when a reminder must land on a specific day. Type a new task at the bottom of the panel and press Enter, or use ⌘⇧K / Ctrl+Shift+K for the full dialog with due times and links.

Get started

Open Dashboard, find Tasks, tap the filter icon, and save a personal preset: for example Due today + Assigned to me + Due (soonest) for daily floor work.
